Trade Names for Real Ones

Ok, so there are just some words that most of us take for granted. We use them on a daily basis without realising that they're actually brand names and not the real name of the product. So let's see how many of these we can come up with. I bet this'll be really cool, since so many of you come from different countries. And with that in mind, if someone uses a word that's common in their country but you have another version in your's, feel free to add it. So here goes.

QTip = cotton swab
CleanX = tissue

Yep. In New Jersey, most say subs or blimpies, after the restaurant with the same name.

I'm From the Dominican Republic and we have a couple of american brand names, which we use as the actual name of the product.


ConFlec or corn flakes = Cereal
Vih Vah Por Ruh = Vapor rub, and yes, it's Vick's Vapor rub.

Cloro = Bleach, a butchered pronounciation of Clorox.

That's just a few.
